5 Years of Good Meat and Great Sandwiches: Turcotte Butchers Is a Dripping Springs Staple

If you have been in Dripping Springs for a few years, you have probably found your way to Turcotte Butchers & Delicatessen at some point. Maybe it was for a thick deli sandwich on a weekday lunch, or to grab fresh-cut steaks for the weekend, or because a neighbor mentioned it as the place to go for good meat.

Five years in, that reputation is earned.

From Boston to the Hill Country

Erik and Christin Turcotte moved to Texas from the Boston area in 2018. In spring 2021, they opened their butcher shop and deli at 100 Commons Road in Dripping Springs — bringing a New England sensibility to the Hill Country.

The concept is straightforward: a full-service butcher shop with locally sourced meats, a real deli counter with hot and cold options (sandwiches, burgers, cheeses, pasta salad, chicken salad, cole slaw), a full bar, and daily specials. Family friendly. A good spot to watch a game.

What they built is not a chain and not a concept. It is a neighborhood institution — the kind of place where regulars know the owners and the owners know the regulars.

What Makes It Worth a Visit

Turcotte's is not just a place to pick up a pound of ground beef. It is a destination.

The deli menu rotates regularly, with daily specials built around whatever is freshest. The sandwiches lean New England in spirit — hearty, well-built, made with attention. Not the watery pre-sliced chain-deli variety.

For home cooks, the butcher counter is the real draw. Locally sourced, freshly cut, and handled by people who genuinely care about the product. In a region where big-box grocery stores dominate, having a dedicated butcher shop in your backyard is not a small thing.

The full bar rounds things out — making Turcotte's as much a place to settle in for an afternoon as it is a quick lunch stop.

Why Five Years Matters

Five years is a real milestone for any independent restaurant. Most do not make it past two.

Turcotte Butchers built its staying power the old-fashioned way: a consistent product, genuine hospitality, and roots that run deeper than any marketing campaign could manufacture. The fact that it has thrived through Dripping Springs' rapid growth — when plenty of businesses come and go with each new development wave — says something real about what Erik and Christin have built.

This spring, raise a glass (or order the daily special) to five more.
